The Artist's Journey

Glenn Plum Art came about from my ongoing creative interests. My passion is to represent the amazing world that surrounds us in a way that inspires the viewer and glorifies God

ABOUT

GLENN PLUM

Glenn’s passion for creative communication began at an early age and he believes it is a God- instilled ability. Driven by his desire to glorify God in all does, he signs his artwork under his name with the three letters “SDG.” These letters represent the Latin phrase “Soli Deo Gloria” ….“only to God be the glory.”

Painting, for him, is a joy-filled and energizing experience as he depicts animals, birds, landscapes and flowers in ways that reveal little glimpses of the beauty and glory that fills the world that God created.

He was formally trained in college as well as studying with professionals and being self- taught. His primary medium is acrylics using color and dramatic lighting to express a thought or idea which grabs a viewer’s attention and invites them to explore and hopefully enjoy themselves. He is a sought after commission artist and creates artwork for the general public.

Glenn now lives with his wife,Carol, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. They have three married children and eight grandchildren. His other interests include writing, teaching and learning.

Spend as much time as you can and feel free to contact him if you want to know more about his artwork.

Where do I get my inspiration?

Composition

Brushwork Layering

Archival Varnish

Many things inspire my artwork: Direct observation of nature, dramatic lighting , a photo reference, classical artwork from the Masters, a different perspective or viewpoint

One of the most challenging aspects of creating art is composing the scene. There are many different ways this can be done and usually it takes a number of small sketches (Thumbnails)

Multiple layers of paint build depth and texture, bringing the subject to life with rich detail.

A final archival varnish protects the artwork, ensuring its longevity and vibrancy for generations.
